The stump and tree
Width, height, wood condition, species and exposed roots can change the work involved. Multiple stumps may be quoted as a group, but their locations and access still matter.
Access and surrounding features
A direct route is different from a narrow side gate, steps or a stump close to paving, fences, irrigation or buried services. Send an overview of the access route as well as a close photo.
The finish you need
Tell the contractor whether the area will become lawn, garden, access or a construction site. Agree the grind level and whether chips stay, move or are removed; extra soil, levelling or landscaping may be separate.
Requesting a useful quote
Include the suburb, stump count, approximate width, a close photo, a wider yard photo, access details and your intended use. Ask what clean-up is included so quotes compare the same scope.
